The Jam Bones are an energetic retro-styled jam-party group that performs fun music from a number of styles including R&B, Oldies, Blues, Reggae, Rock and Roll, Jazz, and more. The Jam Bones covers a wide range of songs by artists like James Brown, Santana, Muddy Waters, The Commodores, The Grateful Dead, Bob Marley, Robert Cray, Wilson Pickett, Eric Clapton and The Rolling Stones among many others. The band also performs original music from their new disk “New Recipe” released in Jan 2008 and their 2006 CD “Shake and Bake”. The Jam Bones currently has over 170 songs in their active repertoire!

Playing large venues, fairs, concerts, festivals, private events, and occasionally smaller clubs, the Jam Bones tunes the performance for the event on hand. At college performances, for instance, the band plays lengthy improvisational Jam tunes while other venues have a more Bluesy set or Oldies and R&B oriented, yet others may be approached in a more classic or southern rock style. It all depends on the event or the crowd! In any case, the distinctive Jam Bones sound is prominent. That sound is experienced and talented musicians playing their hearts out to audiences delight everywhere.

The upcoming release of new album of The Black Crowes got reviewed from , but fraud? I read that over in the news. The “Warpaint” album is to be release yet this coming March 4, 2008. The issue here is that the review was given a star rating without even listening to the whole album.

Incredulously, the magazine gave the album a two and a half star rating–although neither the writer nor the editor could have heard more than one song (the single “Goodbye Daughters of the Revolution”).

Accordingly, the magazine said that the review was out of an educated guess. That’s not credible, right? Here’s more from their website:

Black Crowes manager Pete Angelus says, “Maxim’s actions seem to completely lack journalistic integrity and intentionally mislead their readership. When confronted with the fact that they never heard the album they are claiming to ‘review’ in their music section–with a star rating, no less–they attempt to explain that it was an ‘educated guess.’ In an email correspondence, Maxim went on to state: ‘Of course, we always prefer to (sic) hearing music, but sometimes there are big albums that we don’t want to ignore that aren’t available to hear, which is what happened with the Crowes. It’s either an educated guess preview or no coverage at all, so in this case we chose the former.’”

Angelus continued, “It speaks directly to the lack of the publication’s credibility. In my opinion, it’s a disgrace to the arts, journalism, critics, the publication itself and the public. What’s next–Maxim’s concert reviews of shows they never attended, book reviews of books never read and film reviews of films never seen?”

Like so many of his fellow Americans, Griffin Stewart, lead singer of the popular, L.A. based indie band Wildphyr, is fed up with the way our so-called leaders have been running the show. But closing in 2008, he’s hopeful that some big changes are in store just around the corner. Speaking for everyone who is determined to change the political landscape in the coming months, the singer/songwriter’s infectious new anthem “Americans On The Mend,” is–in line with the title of his band’s debut CD–starting a powerful Movement nationwide. The song’s lyrics bark our frustrations, motivating us to take action. That means everyone with a stake in the future of America, beginning with college students, those involved in political campaigns, supporters of environmental causes, etc. It’s about who we are and what we can do. “The project was originally going to be self-titled, but as we were working on it, all the pieces fell into place perfectly and I realized that from track to track, it was telling a story which had real Movement,” says Stewart. “We’re really taking a journey, starting out with ‘E Machine,’ and ‘Americans On The Mend,’ fitting perfectly into today’s economic and political climates.” Just as the story that became Movement evolved very naturally as the recording took shape, the moniker Wildphyr has some interesting and organic, even mystical origins. “The beauty of the album is in how the pieces landed together,” says Stewart. “The name of the band came to me when I had a dream one night. I was walking through the woods, and sitting in a camp with some people was a spiritual shaman. So I asked him, what should I call my band? He said, ‘Wildfire.’ I woke up and knew that had to be the name. When it came to the spelling I thought of the word ‘Zephyr,’ which means wind. It just had a cool ring to it.”

Please do check their Myspace and Official Website, they are currently on tour. Check on the dates and schedules. What do you think about the band? Share it here.
